My road to JanaS

June 25, 2017

Just like most girls, I love clothes and pretty things.

I worked for 3 years in clothing retail, as a store manager, while completing my Consumer Science degree at the University of Pretoria.

I have always wanted to do my own thing. I have always dreamed of my own clothing label and decided that I want to start my own, because I wanted to be part of the whole process not just the end product.

So off I went in search of the starting point. I knew I wanted to keep my brand Proudly South African.

I sent countless emails trying to find the right manufacturer that will fit with JanaS.

Eventually I found the perfect fit in Johannesburg, a company that is excited about my brand and are passionate about the production of my line of clothing.

In the center of Johannesburg is where the JanaS fabric is sourced and where all the clothes are made by hand from start to finish.

When sourcing fabric I look for feminine, colorful prints. As you have noticed in my current collect, I just love floral prints. So that is what I end up buying most of the time.

One of my biggest lessons that I have learnt with my first collection, is to first find a fabric you like and then decide what it is going to be. It's so much more fun :-).

Have a fantastic week!

With love
